Once an army automotive repair shop fit for their largest vehicles, it became a playground for photographers, graffiti artists, skateboarders, and those who enjoy breaking windows. A local photographer and veteran coined the name The Cathedral when taking groups of shooters there. In 2013, it was demolished to build student housing for Cal State Monterey Bay, one of the few positive redevelopment projects on the closed army base.
