12x17 Epson Archival Print ~ Numbered Edition ~ $200.00 plus sales tax

Photographed April 2004
Joshua Tree Wilderness

The blossoming of a Joshua tree is an explosion happening over days rather than milliseconds. This blossom reminded me of a cumulus cloud forming before a storm, but even a cloud explodes faster than a Joshua tree. I set up this shot similar to Marina Lily Fire from my second portfolio: infrared film for a hot glow and black sky. I also like the textural contrast between the pillowy and spiked parts of the flower.
