Capturing this surfer was a happy accident following an afternoon at the Hawaiian craft beer festival. I was shooting water abstracts at sunset, and had my shutter set to 1/2 second with a 100-400mm telephoto on a tripod when I saw this guy jetting through the surf on a body board just big enough to stand on. I swiveled my camera up and let the shutter fly as he zoomed by forgetting to switch my shutter to a faster speed. I corrected my setting to 1/500 second and shot him again on the next wave.
